Database Telemedicine is an innovative process of synergizing benefits of Satellite communication technology and information technology with Biomedical Engineering and Medical Sciences to deliver the health care services to the remote, distant and underserved regions of the country.


The main aim of Telemedicine is providing Telemedicine Technology and connectivity between remote/rural hospital and super speciality hospital for Teleconsultation.


The scope of the Telemedicine is as follows:

The telemedicine has good potential to grow since it provides speciality health care to the remote hospitals. The growth could be the connectivity between

a) District hospitals/ health centers and super-speciality hospitals in the cities.

b) Community Health Centers at block level and district hospital and

c) Primary Health Centre at village level and community health centres for health care and delivery of medical advice. Further, there could be a network of super-speciality hospitals providing telemedicine consultation to any of the regions.


Easy to Use tool with user friendly & intuitive GUI. Telemedicine has been successful in reaching masses and telemedicine is set to revolutionize the health care system because it is one of the innovative methods of connecting two distant hospitals through Satcom-based communication link. It may be noted that generally 90 per cent of the patients do not require surgery and if so the doctor generally need not touch the patient, and in that case both need not to be at the same place. They can be at different locations and still the patient can be treated. Telemedicine makes an ordinary doctor in rural area do extraordinary work since the doctor is advised by the specialist in handling the medical problems including emergencies. Further, the needy patient need not undertake long and difficult journey to towns and cities, especially when the condition of the patient is serious like in case of heart attack or trauma. There will be cost-saving in terms of reduced necessity to travel for the patient and the family when telemedicine facility is used.

Existing System

The existing system consists of entering the details in the Microsoft Excel Sheets for the storing of the data. When a Doctor needs information of the another doctor they need to search for the specified file in the file system. They opens the file and takes the information. Report Generation done manually by copying the content of the different files into another file. The Manually generated report was then printed.

Limitations in Existing System

  • Information retrieval is a very big process.
  • Lack of organization of the files may effect to information loss due to accidental deletion of files.
  • No security because the files are visible to the users.
  • Report generation will be a big task.

Proposed System

The Proposed system is a browser which is completely related to online system, which provides the centralized database. It stores the entire information and description of the particular patients prescription or treatment data. It can also create Excel reports and PDF documents based on the information in its database.

Admin users :

Has full access to all the modules of this system. Responsible for the accounting of all cash collections and remittances. Prepares and submits also Daily Deposit Reports, Creating doctors and assigning a particular doctor to the scheduled patient. Updating and deleting the information related to doctors.

Patient Module: In this module the patients sends personal information about the problems patient facing and the patients specifications, and also sends the previous reports. Patient can also view the doctors schedule and can communicate with the doctor through online chat.

Doctor Module: Here the doctors can view the assigned patients list by the admin and can also update the future scheduled status. Doctor can chat with patient directly through online in the allotted time. Doctor can update his personal information and can change the password.


All frequently used reports at the click of a button. All reports can be previewed, printed or can be faxed or emailed.

Normal users :

Has restricted access. i.e., Normal users have access to some of the modules only i.e. user can see the list of all tele-centers and can view the related details of tele-medicine.
