Abstract

Online Discussion Forum is just line any another discussion forum found in most of the websites online with an additional unique elegant look & feel and extended functionality. The idea of forum has been adapted from lots of forum in many websites. Truly speaking this is an enhanced or improved version of the ASP only version.  The good features of all these forums are incorporated in to this Online Discussion Forum to make it really an online solution for all forum needs. ODF supports all the common features of any standard forum like posting a message, grouping the messages, replying to existing message, multiple discussion rooms, etc.,

ODF is designed in such a way that the whole forum structure is fully intertwined and tangled within itself. This makes the forum structure very difficult to empathize. Though it is difficult to comprehend, it can easily be adaptable to any type of or nature of discussion forum.

  • File Libraries.
  • Discussion Forums
  • Threads
  • Project Manager
  • Teams
  • Logout

Scope of the project is:-

  • Make it available across other platforms, without inflicting changes in the code.
  • It can be GUI presented, and allow handling of events through mouse.
  • New modules can be designed, without effecting existing modules.
  • The application can be associated with a session tracking module that can display the user activities related to mailing.
  • Acknowledgment in case of messages that are transmitted can be confirmed to the sender, if delivery of the mail is ensured.

In addition to all these things, it can easily be incorporated seamlessly in to any existing website as a plug-in without disturbing original sites layout or design. Like a chameleon ODF can change its face and out look in whatever web site it is.

Existing System

Present system is manual. The Project Metrics has to enter all the details of project, documents, and tasks. It also maintenance the team information and also efforts estimation. For this purpose the organization maintain the size of the document, source code and update the information about team member’s details   manually. Which is much of time consuming process and more importantly it is error prone. Limitations Of the Manual system

  1. It is time consuming
  2. It leads to error prone results
  3. It consumes lot of manpower to better results
  4. It lacks of data security
  5. Retrieval of data takes lot of time
  6. Percentage of accuracy is less
  7. Reports take time to produce

Hence Computerization of the existing system is proposed. The new system completely removes all manual burdens and provide efficient on the entry system.

The computerization of this system would avoid the wrong interpretation and bad calculation of data .The system help the user to see any documents, source code, tasks, activities, team information with details at the click of a button. The record data is maintained and backed up such a way that data is not loss. The speed of the system could also increased.
